I was commissioned by the award-winning multinational agency 'Dreambox Visual Communications' to create the brand identity for Al-Mayadeen TV.
The goal was to establish a strong, recognisable brand image for Al-Mayadeen as a TV news channel with a professional journalistic voice, balanced with a modern, informative vision. The brand aimed to serve as a credible media platform for dialogue and interaction, delivering high-quality visuals that embody its core values: Credibility, Social Justice, and Free Expression.
Rationale: The name "Al-Mayadeen" means "City Squares" in Arabic, symbolising the central role of public spaces during the Arab Spring revolutions, where people gathered to fight for freedom, social justice, and equality. The channel aspired to revolutionise Arab media while preserving its self-identity and cultural roots.
The logo I created symbolises a glowing fire (on a torch that is hit by the wind), held by a revolutionary, and conveys a futuristic vision of progress. The emblem also reflects the concept of "City Squares" through the art of Arabic calligraphy.
Visual and Audio Identity: Following the creation of the logo, the visual and audio identity were developed to reflect a modern, clean design language inspired by the spirit of the Arab Spring. This approach conveyed evolution and transformation in a contemporary, symbolic style.
